This may not be news at all, but SF Gate recently compiled an interesting slideshow called “1994 album releases”, which lists 50 albums that came out that year. Of course, many of your favorite albums are on the list, including Weezer‘s self-titled “blue album”, The Offspring‘s Smash, Green Day‘s Dookie, Nine Inch Nails’ The Downward Spiral, Soundgarden’s Superunknown, Stone Temple Pilots’ Purple, Nas’ Illmatic and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s Creepin’ on ah Come Up. You can check out the rest of the list here.
The publisher writes:
“Why was 1994 so great? Look at the artists who had debut major-label albums that year: OutKast, Nas, Notorious B.I.G., Warren G, Weezer, Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper, Usher, Soul Coughing, Korn, Bush, Oasis, Keb’ Mo’, Marilyn Manson. Many of those artists are still around today, and those songs from 1994 still resonate.”
Throw in your comments if one of your favorite albums that came out in 1994 isn’t listed.
