2 members of the Russian political punk outfit Pussy Riot, who were not under arrest during the band’s recent trial, have fled the country to avoid further prosecution against themselves and the other members of the band.

Band members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alekhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich have been found guilty of hooliganism, and will serve 2 years in prison in the Republic of Mordovia. The defense will appeal the court’s decision, but see small chances of overturning the sentence. “Under no circumstances will the girls ask for a pardon [from Putin],” said Mark Feygin. “They will not beg and humiliate themselves before such a bastard.”

Pussy Riot tweeted on Sunday regarding the other two band member’s exodus, stating that they intend to start “recruiting foreign feminists to prepare new protest actions.”

While the trial has aroused some level of international concern, no government or major political organization (barring Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch) has openly condemned the actions of the state. President Barack Obama “was disappointed by the decision.”
