As shameful as it is some of you readers don’t actually check Dying Scene every hour of every day. For you slackers we’ve put together a list of last week’s biggest stories to help you stay in the loop and maintain your punk cred. You’re welcome.
1. Black Flag is reuniting and recording a new album. Not only is the band playing a handful of festival shows, they’re also recording a new album. And, before, you guys start yelling about Henry Rollins – Yes, this is the original Black Flag lineup, Rollins joined two years after the band had been formed.
2. Fall Out Boys is NOT reuniting. And we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
3. We found some video footage of The Ramones on The Howard Stern Show. Which totally makes sense because Howard Stoned looks like the long lost Ramone.
4. Blake and Garik from Gunner’s daughter talked to us about the songs that made them fall in love with punk rock. Any list with The Ataris and Samiam is a solid list, in my eyes.
5. Folk-Punk act The Winter Passing streamed a new song off of their upcoming EP.
6. Paramore released the first single off of their first album in four years. It kind of sounds like No Doubt, right before things started to go downhill.
7. Less Than Jake announced Spring tour dates. But only two of them are in the US, so maybe you should just calm down.
8. Brendan Kelly of The Lawrence Arms sat down for a lengthy interview with The Inertia.
9. Wes Breedwell was fired from Christian-own venue, Rocketown for wearing a Hostage Calm shirt bearing the phrase “I Support Same-Sex Marriage.” Now, I could write a very long and angry editorial just about this story, so I’m not even going to get started.
This week on Sacred Cow Saturday dissects the pros and cons of Bad Brains’ self-titled album.
Those were just some of the most read stories from last week, but there were plenty more little gems covered. Let us know what what you loved, what you hated and what your personal favorite story was in the comments.
