Anti-Flag and Hostage Calm have gotten together with Run For Cover Records for an upcoming, limited edition split 7-inch. The release will feature one new song by each band, “Branded Rebellion” by Anti-Flag and “Olly Olley Oxen Free” by Hostage Calm. Proceeds from the split will be used to benefit hometown charities: Assemble, a community arts and technology space in their hometown of Pittsburgh, and Music Haven, a New Haven, CT-based string quartet that works to build community around music.
Chris #2 and Chris “C-Mar” Martin both had things to say about the split, which can be read here.
The split will be released on February 26, and can be pre-ordered here.
“Hostage Calm are one of the most important new bands we have had the pleasure to meet in years. Their tireless efforts to continue the aesthetic of equality in the punk rock scene are to be applauded. While sonically our avenues may be different, the ideals and the agendas of each band are intrinsically similar.”
“We’re honored to be working with Anti-Flag on this musical and community project, [they were] a big reason a lot of us originally got into punk, politics and community activism in the first place. Their insistence on making social justice and political action a centerpiece of the punk scene continues to inspire us. For them to give a new band like us a platform like this speaks to their genuine interest in building the scene and bringing new ideas to the table.”
