Bring Me The Horizon has announced that they will be performing in the UK leg of Sonisphere this year. For those of you who don’t know what Sonisphere is, here’s a little metal music education for ya!
Sonisphere is a huge European metal music festival that stretches from the UK to Poland to Germany to Switzerland and so on… The biggest names in metal have performed at these summer events such as Metallica, Skipknot, Anthrax and Lamb Of God. Some 40 to 60 THOUSAND metal-heads travel far and wide to get to these performances so you can imagine it must be some kind of wonderful. This year is said to be the biggest year for Sonisphere with 11 locations around Europe between June 16th and August 8th and headliners like Metallica, Iron Maiden and Rammstein. Alice Cooper, Motley Crue and Papa Roach will also partake in the rocking. Now, I like Bring Me The Horizon… but for some reason when I hear the names of these metal LEGENDS, I don’t think of them as a likely supporting act…. Then again, I’ve never seen them perform live so maybe they’re far better than I give them credit for. Here’s what the Sonisphere press release has to say about them:
“One of Britain’s hardest working bands, Sheffield’s BRING ME THE HORIZON have built up a dedicated army of followers through countless gigs and festival appearances. If there’s one thing that’s certain about BMTH, it’s that they will provoke some kind of reaction. Bringing back the spirit of rebellion, this band are everything an “extreme” band should be – fiercely heavy, abrasively loud, controversial and completely indifferent to what you think of them, and we’re delighted to have them at KNEBWORTH next summer.”
