In light of the announcement that Darrin Pfeiffer from Goldfinger had joined Sum 41 as their new drummer, frontman Deryck Whibley spoke to Alternative Press about the band’s reunion with original guitarist Dave “Brownsound” Baksh, who left in 2006, but rejoined last month. He says:
“It definitely feels like that. And it just feels really good. [It feels] right, that’s what the word for me is. It feels right, because it happened naturally. There were no meetings about “How should we do this? What would we do on the next record? What’s going to be different about us?” It was just like, “Okay, this is happening. These opportunities are presenting themselves.” Either you can roll with it, or not. And it just felt too good to not.”
Sum 41 launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the release of a follow-up to 2011’s Screaming Bloody Murder last month. It will be the band’s first album with Brownsound on guitar since 2004’s Chuck, and their first release with Darrin Pfeiffer on drums.
