DS Staff Picks – Ben’s Top Ten Albums of 2015

I write reviews and features for Dying Scene when I’m able to (which isn’t often). I put a Christmas album on my top 10. I won’t apologize for it.

You can find my list below.

10. Timeshares – Already Dead

It was hard to top Bearable, but Timeshares definitely gave it a go. Already Dead is right there alongside it.

09. Beach Slang – The Things We Do to Find the People Who Feel Like Us

Beach Slang’s debut album came out this year. It was pretty great.

08. Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls – Positive Songs for Negative People

I never thought I would get into a Frank Turner album, I didn’t really get it before. I get it now. The songs on this album rock. Hard.

07. Lithuania – Hardcore Friends

I fell in love with this band after seeing them play with #6 and #9. They’re fucking incredible, and give the more experimental pop-punk bands (Cloud Nothings, etc.) a run for their money.

06. Worriers – Imaginary Life

WorriersImaginary Life came out of nowhere for me, and grew and grew until it was one of my faves. Their label, Don Giovanni, has been on fire this year.

05. Elway – Better Whenever

Elway is one of the most underrated bands in the scene right now. And their growth over their 10-4 Eleanor stuff is astounding.

04. Chris Farren – Where U Are

If Chris Farren had released a full length this year, it would be #1. Where U Are is so fantastic, and the song “Permanent to Me” makes me cry.

03. Chris Farren – Like a Gift from God or Whatever

Chris Farren has succeeded in creating the only Christmas album you will ever need. The songs on here are technically Christmas songs, but they’re appropriate year round. Like a Gift From God, or Whatever came out after I made my 2014 list, so I made sure to include it here.

02. Jeff Rosenstock – We Cool?

Each step of Jeff Rosenstock’s evolution from Bomb the Music Industry! to present has been right up my alley. We Cool? is Rosenstock’s best yet.

01. Antarctigo Vespucci – Leavin’ La Vida Loca

I think it’s pretty clear from the top half of this list, and last year’s, that Antarctigo Vespucci‘s Jeff Rosenstock and Chris Farren are my two favorite musicians. Leavin’ La Vida Loca is another fantastic record.  I hope this band comes to the west coast soon, and that they put out a million more albums.
