Early Gates & Justin Melkmann stream “I’ve Got Five Dollars (And It’s Saturday Night)” off George Jones pop-punk covers EP

It all began on a drunken winter’s evening, in one of Brooklyn’s premier punk dumps, when Justin Melkmann, renowned cartoonist/guitar player for NYC junk rock band World War IX, and his chum Early Gates from The Ray Gradys and Morning Glory, decided it was high time to combine two of their favorite genres, into one masterful masterpiece! Sharing an equal love for both, punk and country, these two inebriates hashed out a plan to cover 5 George Jones classics in the grand style of their beloved Ramones. Easy yet powerful chord progressions, coupled with simple yet soul wrenching lyrics are the calling cards for both of these musical genres, and Early and Justin believe the two styles click together perfectly! Oh, and this ain’t no rock-a-billy neither!
