This is a neat little story for a slow news afternoon. Apparently while touring the UK Frank Turner had the notion to send off a tour flag around the tour with him but could only be transported via fans… Well, I’ll just let Frank explain. he writes:
As many people will know, we had an #FTHCflag made at the start of my UK tour a couple of weeks ago, featuring the tour dates and the new album artwork. The plan was for it to travel with fans between each city I played without my help, showing that people can work stuff out together.
I’ll admit, at first I was pretty cynical. I thought it would get lost or stolen or no one would be bothered to transport it around.
But I was proved wrong. People carried the flag with them and it enjoyed the sights of York Castle, Winchester Cathedral, the village where I was raised and many more. You can view them all in the Facebook gallery here.
The enthusiasm of people has been incredible, you all made friends and became a community and I couldn’t have wished for a better outcome. I’m genuinely pleasantly surprised. Thank you.
At my final show at the London Forum, I announced I was to going to auction the #FTHCflag with all proceeds going to Shelter, and that’s exactly what I’m doing now. So dig deep if you can!
Thank you to everyone who made pass the flag a successful venture, and thank you to all who are bidding on it now
The bidding is up to over 3,000 pounds. Yowza! You rich FT fanatics can bid on it here.
