Green Day guitarist Jason White has just announced the unfortunate news that he has been diagnosed with tonsil cancer. The “fourth member” of Green Day is said to be suffering from a treatable form of the illness and anticipates a full recovery.

We have some news to report regarding our brother Jason White, and wanted you to hear it from us before word spread. Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery.

Green Day last released a trilogy of albums entitled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! in 2012 on Reprise Records, and has teased the potential of something new coming from the band in 2015.
