Album Review: Lilac Daze – “Sedated”

To me the 90’s don’t feel as if they were that long ago but for a band like Lilac Daze, as young as they are the 90’s are probably like the 70’s are to me. When I was a kid I spent hours a day going through my parent’s vinyl and 8-tracks discovering music and sounds that the modern radio no longer played. I can imagine the band mates in Lilac Daze exploring their parent’s cassette collections and rediscovering a great decade in music, the 90’s. Bands like Weezer, The Pixies, Super Drag and other semi-alternative influences are extremely evident in their music. In today’s very confused era of music, it’s nice to see that some of the younger musicians still have taste.

The latest release by Lilac Daze is a 6 track EP entitled Sedated which can be found here for streaming or purchase on bandcamp. I really enjoyed this recording especially the song “Kathleen” which has very melodic guitar and remains very tranquil at least until the distortion comes in and once again the band is rocking. I really look forward to hearing more from Lilac Daze because I can see as they mature their music will evolve with them naturally.

I give this album 4 out of 5 stars!
