Mike Ness on the musical direction and current status of new Social Distortion album

In a recent interviewSocial Distortion frontman Mike Ness offered an update on the band’s anticipated new album, stating that its process is slowly coming together, with half a record written, and that no timetable has been set for release. On the album’s current status and musical direction, Ness stated:

“The next record I might want to be more primitive or garage or more aggressive, but it has to be different from the last record. The writing just kind of reflects that. I’m writing differently because I want it to be different from the last record.”

Social Distortion last released Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes through Epitaph Records in 2011. Starting tomorrow, the band will embark on a U.S. tour with The Whigs and Social D guitarist Jonny “Two Bags” Wickersham‘s solo project.
