San Francisco based metal quintet Early Graves has just been signed to No Sleep Records. The band will be heading to the studio in July, to begin work on their third full-length album, which is set to be released later this fall.
Early Graves formed in the Bay Area in early 2008 and has released two previous full length albums through Metal Blade Records/Iron Clad Recordings (“We: The Guillotine” (2008)) (“Goner (2010)). The band’s sound has been described as a mixture of old school Swedish death metal and American hardcore punk and have drawn comparisons to Napalm Death, Carcass, Tragedy and Testament among others.
The band has endured an incredible amount of obstacles and tragedies, however they have continued to persevere. In early 2012, Early Graves began writing and recording demos for a new album, with their new singer John Strachan. Here’s what guitarist Chris Brock had to say about the signing.
“After enduring every shitstorm the proverbial “universe” can throw at us for last few years, we are extremely excited to be releasing our new batch of burners on No Sleep Records. No Sleep Records may not seem like a likely landing spot for a band like us, but Chris and No Sleep release music that they care about and want to work with, which is something we can definitely get behind. I won’t bore with you with a “our new album sounds like mixed with this mixed with that” or “it’s heavier, faster, more melodic” bullshit, but I will say that we are happy to be releasing it with a label that likes it as much as we do.”
Stay tuned for more updates on Early Graves as they become available.
