This past weekend the East Coast met the West Coast the the legendary Slim’s in San Francisco. New York ska legends, The Slackers, performed a headline set with support from California-bred DJ Another Jerk, The California Honeydrops, and Blammos.
While I didn’t get to catch DJ Another Jerk, I arrived in time to see The California Honeydrops set the mood for a night of ska/reggae. Up next was San Francisco’s own Blammos, whose sound was like a combination of melodic pop, soul, bluegrass, rock, and whatever else you want to throw in there. Great set.
Now for the main event. The Slackers cam out to a warm and ready reception, and didn’t waste any time filling our ears with musical delight. The musicians in The Slackers are all extremely talented in their own rights, and when they all come together it is something amazing.

The Slackers released their last album, “The Great Rocksteady Swindle”, in 2010 through Hellcat Records.
