Pussy Riot call for support for Wisconsin protesters

Pussy Riot members Masha Alyokhina and Nadya Tolokonnikova recently appeared in a video by the nonprofit organization The Voice Project to voice their support for the hundreds of Wisconsin protesters who have been arrested and fined for singing in the state capitol. The video calls on supporters to sign a petition to Attorney General JB Van Hollen to dismiss the cases against the protesters.

Since 2011, the capitol building has been a popular site of peaceful protest against the actions of Republican governor Scott Walker. In 2012, Capitol police began arresting demonstrators and issuing citations.

In 2012, The Voice Project worked to raise funds for Pussy Riot’s legal aid. ”Use music to change the world in the direction you want it to change,” says Tolokonnikova, “because music touches people and makes them act.” Check out the petition over here.
