Riot Fest announces plan for socio-political discussion with Pussy Riot

Riot Fest seems like a pretty appropriate place for a discussion about the feminist punk band Pussy Riot, who made headlines following their arrest (and subsequent release) for “hooliganism” in Russia back in 2012.  That is the plan for this year’s Riot Fest, which takes place in Chicago next weekend.

The panel discussion will include Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alekhina of Pussy Riot, plus Greg Graffin (vocalist of Bad Religion and professor of Geology at UCLA) and Tim McIlrath (Rise Against).  Writer and activist Marcelle Karp and Riot Fest founder Michael A. Petryshyn will also be on the panel, which will be moderated by Henry Rollins.

The discussion will take place at Humboldt Park in Chicago next Friday, September 12th.  You can get ticket info here.
