RIP Alan Myers (longtime Devo drummer)

Sad news tonight. Word has circulated from the Devo camp that Alan Myers has passed away.

Myers was the band’s third drummer, serving as ‘human metronome’ from 1976 to roughly 1985. He first appears on the band’s legendary debut album, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!, and remained with the band through their first half-dozen albums, leaving shortly after the 1984 release of Shout.

Myers unfortunately succumbed after a bout with brain cancer. He was 58 years old.

We leave you with the classic Devo cover of the Rolling Stones’ (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. To quite current Devo drummer Josh Freese, “Goodspeed Human Metronome!”
