The A-OKs to release new album, launches crowdfunding campaign

Denver, CO ska-punk veterans The A-OKs, are actually working on their fourth album which is set to be released sometime next year. They’ve also started a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the recording, mastering and some other expenses.

Here’s a portion of what the band had to say about it:

…We have started a Kickstarter project with an ultimate goal of $4000 in donations. We have tried to avoid this model in the past and have fully funded our previous 3 albums with money from each band member’s pockets. This time around, we are asking for the support of our friends, our fans, and our scene to alleviate some of the costs and give us an opportunity to give you our absolute best effort.

You can read the full statement below and head over here to check out the band’s Kickstarter campaign.

The A-OKs last released a live album entitled “Are You Double Fisting Drinks Like I Am?” on January 12th. It is available to stream on Bandcamp.

“Hey friends, fans, cool kids, lame kids, ironic kids, buddies, enemies, family members, and everyone we missed- First of all, I want to express that 2014 has been the craziest, scariest, most successful year for our silly little ska band. We’ve made a ton of new friends, played in places that we’ve fantasized about in fevered dreams, and poured our hearts and souls into this little band in a way that we never predicted we could. Last summer, we were so proud and honored to represent Denver in The Ska Revival Tour! Immediately after coming home from that tour, we left for Maine to celebrate the marriage of singer Mark Swan and trumpeter Nicole Swan (formerly Orts.) Everything that has happened since has been a blur of awesome shows, amazing festivals, and trying to tie it all together with this little thing called REAL LIFE.

We started The A-OKs 8 years ago with the intent to put on crazy shows and make silly music like all of our friends and idols before us. We never try to stop, though sometimes the world catches up with us and we have to reacclimate, rebalance, reform, and eventually return to what we’ve loved for most of our adult lives. I’m not kidding when I say that we, the band, have grown up together and we are so privileged to grow up with you as well.

We are absurdly excited that at the end of February 2015, we will be recording our FOURTH OFFICIAL ALBUM for release later in the year! We have been hard at work writing song after song and we are itching to get into the studio and release something just as fun, and hopefully multitudes better, than our previous records. We have gone into past recordings with ideas and plans that either did not flesh out the way we wanted to, or did not present themselves as well as we expected due to time constraints or other obstacles. However, I want everyone reading this to consider this post a promise that we intend to release to you our most passionate, fleshed out project to date.

However, with all of this considered, we are looking for your help.

Thank you for reading this, for considering us, and for listening for all these years. You are awesome and we always intend to make it up to you!
