The Obvious (garage punk) sign to Altercation Records, debut full-length in the works

Asbury Park New Jersey’s Indie Punks The Obvoius have inked a deal with Altercation records and are planning to release their first full length “Duress” sometime in the beginning of 2014.

The Obvious have a deceptively aggressive sound. They are somewhat reminiscent of The Pixies in that they have this quiet loud quiet thing that they do, only amp the aggression and sexuality up by about 110% and you have The Obvious.

Altercation co-owner Travis Myers had this to say about the band:

“I first saw The Obvious at Asbury Lanes in November of 2011, they were the opening act on a Say Hello To The Angels tour. I saw these four young, kind of geeky, college, almost frat looking kids take the stage, and have to admit I immediately judged them as something I wasn’t interested in…they just had this cute nice Jersey kid look about them, well it only took one song for me to take notice of the sonic force, depth of sound and lyric that is The Obvious, by the end of their set the place was on fire, and Angie the front girl was dripping with both sweat and blood, and I was sold”…”So two years, and a dozen or more shows have past and we’re signing them, and we are very excited and proud to be introducing them to the world”
