The Smith Street Band have just released a surprise 7″ single called “Wipe That Shit Eating Grin Off Of Your Punchable Face,” which is a political attack on the Australian government’s treatment of asylum seekers. The 7″, which features another new song, “God In The Name Of The Father” on the flipside, is available today on bandcamp and all digital sales will be donated to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. This 7″ will be released through Poison City Records and a large part of the physical sales will also be donated, including all of the proceeds from The Smith Street Band’s benefit show later this month. You can preorder it here.
Check it out below.
In addition to the benefit show, the band will be touring Australia with PUP over the next few months. The Smith Street Band’s latest release was Throw Me In The River, launched in October via SideOneDummy (US), Uncle M Music (Europe), Poison City Records (Australia), and Banquet Records (UK).
