Tim Barry finishes new studio album

According to a recent update posted on his website, folk rocker (and former Avail frontman) Tim Barry has finished recording a new studio album. Here’s what he had to say:

I just finished a new studio album. I began recording this past winter – in my freezing shed. Lance Koehler, of Minimum Wage Studio here in Richmond, tied in a great recording set up and I built an isolation booth around it out of pallets, scrap carpet, blankets and other sound proofing material. Recording outside of a traditional studio setting gave me the freedom to track when I FELT it. I was never forced to play and record based on reserved studio days with time constraints. I feel truly lucky to have recorded in the shed and at my leisure.

Josh Small and my sister Caitlin accompanied me on a handful of songs and then some how the whole project fell into place. I picked 13 songs that I felt like worked well together and back burner-ed the rest for whatever comes next. The recordings were mastered by Brent at The Kitchen in Carrboro, NC earlier in the week and it’s been sent to Chunksaah Records. Release date, album title and track listing will be announced in the near future. With a new album comes tons of touring. I look forward to being back on the road and visiting with you all. Thank you much.

We’ll keep you posted as more details on Tim Barry’s new album come to light. His latest record 40 Miler was released in 2012 through Chunksaah Records.
