Weezer announce U.S. shows, consider reuniting with Ric Ocasek as producer for new album

It’s been more than three years since Weezer announced that they were working on a new album. This time, there have been reports on the internet saying that Weezer are in talks of reuniting with The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek as the producer of the record, which is due for release next year. If confirmed, this will be the first time Weezer and Ocasek worked together since 2001’s Weezer (also known as The Green Album).

In addition, the band just announced a few club dates that will take place before next year’s Weezer Cruise, which will take place in February. All the dates can be found below.

The band’s last studio album, Hurley, was released in September 2010 on Epitaph Records. Two months later, they released the compilation album Death to False Metal on their previous home Geffen Records.
