Why did they choose the name Random Orbits?

Ever wonder where some bands come up with their band names? Well, we do, and we’re sick of sitting around scratching our heads about it. We’re hitting the streets (aka. “Internet”) to find the origins behind some of the more bizarre, intriguing or just plain random band names in the scene. Every Wednesday we’ll be pulling the curtain back on a different band and this week it’s Seattle Melodic punk act Random Orbits. Here’s what their singer, Steven Smith, had to say:

The story behind the name Random Orbits comes from the painting by Ralph Steadman called “The Theory of Random Orbits”. Steadman is most well known for his demented paintings that accompany a lot of the late Hunter S. Thompson’s writing. I love Steadmans art, my walls are covered with posters of his art.

You can see the aforementioned painting here.
