The guys in Louisville hardcore band Xerxes have returned to the studio to begin recording their sophomore album with Evan Weiss (Into It. Over It.) handling production duties. Here’s what frontman Calvin Philley had to say about working with Weiss:
“Evan has been one of our very best friends pretty much since the beginning. We met him for a weekend with Former Thieves years ago in the midwest when he was touring with an acoustic guitar and copies of “52 Weeks.” I was just in Chicago for a weekend and over a bottle of cheap whiskey and an impromptu homemade dinner, we were talking music and he volunteered to do this record with us before I even asked. Truth be told, it came together in a way I could never have imagined.”
We’ll be sure to keep you posted as more details on Xerxes’ new album come to light. All we know right now is it’ll be released sometime later this year via No Sleep Records, who put out the band’s debut full-length “Our Home Is A Deathbed” back in 2012.
