Get your friends together and let’s fucking do this!

Andrew W.K. premieres two videos for “It’s Time to Party”

Party rocker Andrew WK has just released two music videos for his song “It’s Time to Party”. The song comes from WK’s seminal 2001 album “I Get Wet” and the videos are meant to celebrate the upcoming deluxe reissue of the album.

While the first video for the song is standard music video fare, that being playing the song over a montage of crazy antics, it’s the second video that takes the concept to a new level and really has you question what a music video really is. It’s the exact same music video, only without the music and just a bunch of sound effects. Think Tim and Eric.

You can watch both music videos here.

The deluxe reissue of “I Get Wet” comes out on August 28, via Century Media Records.

Andrew W.K. includes dirty jeans, hair in special anniversary edition of “I Get Wet”

As if you weren’t excited enough for Andrew W.K.‘s 10-year anniversary edition of “I Get Wet,” (due out August 28th via Century Media) we have more news about what’s in store for a super limited (500) double-disc autographed edition of the CD.  Aside from an autographed 20 page booklet, personal items of Andrew W.K.’s will also be included at random—items such as a piece of his stage-worn and filthy white jeans (cut into 496 pieces), a lock of his unwashed hair (for 3 fans) and an autographed plane ticket stub for one lucky fan.  A bloody-nose air freshener will be included for those lucky enough to get dirty jeans or hair in their package, in order to combat any smells.  This is what the party-king had to say:

“I wanted to give a piece of myself and this party to everyone who got one of these limited editions,” explains W.K.  “Originally, I had wanted to include used tissues and one of my hangnails, but I was told that international customs doesn’t allow sending human flesh or bodily fluids in music packaging.  So I decided to give the party people my dirty white jeans and hair instead.  My jeans and hair give me party power-kind of like Dumbo’s magic feather.  They’re blessed with the power of positive partying, and I hope that these objects bring even more magical partying to anyone who possesses them.”

Andrew W.K. toured to promote the 10 year anniversary of “I Get Wet” earlier this year and is also hopefully releasing a new album in the future.

Century Media reconsiders Spotify stance; entire catalog now available

Astute readers will be able to recall about a year ago when news broke that Century Media, home to acts like Sick Of It All, Terror and Andrew WK had yanked its entire catalog from the archives at Spotify. At the time, the label had argued that the Spotify model would “completely kill a lot of smaller bands that are already struggling to make ends meet.”

Fast-forward to this year, and it seems the label has reconsidered. North American president had this to say today:

“We respect that music fans wanted to have instant access to our catalog via Spotify…but we also have to consider the rights of our artists. After practicing some due diligence, we’re moving ahead confident that both the artist and the fan are being fairly served by this developing platform.”

In addition to the label’s own lineup, this deal also extends to its affiliated labels, Superball Music (home to Matt Skiba and the Sekrets) and People Like You Records (home to the latest Face To Face album)
