The Old Firm Casuals’ drummer Paul Rivas breaks arm, band hopes to continue European tour

Tough break (sorry for that) for The Old Firm Casuals. The band recently embarked on a full European tour, but suffered a setback when drummer Paul Rivas broke his arm (that’s the X-Ray above). The Bay Area oi punk band (which also includes Lars from Rancid) were forced to cancel their gig at the Punk Rock Holiday Festival in Slovenia. However, they’re hoping to continue the remainder of their tour dates with a few fill-in drummers. Check out the full European rundown here. Get well soon, Paul!

The Old Firm Casuals announce “This Means War” release details

Release details have finally been announced for the debut full-length from The Old Firm Casuals (featuring Lars from Rancid, as you should know by now).

Entitled “This Means War,” the album will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow (Thursday, July 17th). Check out your order options right here. Digital release is slated for July 29th.

“This Means War” will be released via Oi! the Boat Records. If you haven’t done so yet, check out the band’s video for the track “Perry Boys” below.



Music Video: The Old Firm Casuals – “Perry Boys”

Rancid guitarist/vocalist Lars Frederiksen’s side project The Old Firm Casuals have released a music video for their song “Perry Boys.” Check it out below.

“Perry Boys” comes from the band’s upcoming album This Means War, which will be released later this year on Oi! The Boat Records.  The Old Firm Casuals last released a 7-inch entitled Never Say Die in January.



The Old Firm Casuals (ft. Lars from Rancid) to release new full-length this year

According to a recent post on their Facebook page, Rancid guitarist/vocalist Lars Frederiksen and the rest of the guys in The Old Firm Casuals are planning on releasing a new, 13-song album sometime within the next few months.

Nothing else has been announced as of yet but we’ll keep you all in the loop as more details on the record come to light. Hopefully this doesn’t have an impact on the release of that new Rancid album we’ve been waiting for.



The Old Firm Casuals (ft. Lars from Rancid) announce European tour dates

Rancid guitarist/vocalist Lars Frederiksen’s side project The Old Firm Casuals will be heading out on a two-week European tour this summer. Details on when and where they’ll be stopping can be found below.

The Old Firm Casuals last released a 7-inch entitled Never Say Die in January through Oi! The Boat Records, who also released the band’s double LP For the Love It All on April 27th, 2013.



Oxley’s Midnight Runners (featuring Lars Fredricksen) to release debut 7-inch “We Are Legion”

You may not have heard of Oxley’s Midnight Runners, but you have sure as hell heard of their lineup:  Lars Fredricksen (Rancid, Old Firm Casuals) has teamed up with Mike from The Fatskins, and Jeff and Dave from 90 Proof and Boot Party.  The Phoenix-based oi! band is set to release their debut EP, We Are Legion, on Oi! The Boat Records this May.

Dublin street punk act, Hooligan, have released a music video for their song “Cops n’ Robbers.”

As a part of their 40th anniversary celebration, Major League Soccer team the San Jose Earthquakes have tapped Oi/Streetpunk act The Old Firm Casuals (featuring Rancid‘s Lars Frederiksen) to write their new theme song. The track, titled “Never Say Die”, features back up vocals recorded by former and current members of the Earthquakes and will make its live debut at the Earthquake rebranding party on January 30th.

To coincide with this Oi! The Boat Records has released a 7-inch featuring 2 versions of the song and you can stream it below.

Midwest Oi! bands Victory and Brick Assassin stream upcoming split 7-inch

Minnesota’s Victory, and Chicago’s Brick Assassin will be releasing a split 7″ through Oi! the Boat Records on January 31st, but you don’t have to wait until then to hear it. You can stream the entire thing right now below.

The Old Firm Casuals announce California tour dates w/ Stomper 98 & Control

Rancid guitarist/vocalist Lars Frederiksen’s side project The Old Firm Casuals will be playing some shows in California this March with support from Stomper 98 and Control.

Duffy’s Cut (Philly Oi!/Soul) sign to Oi! The Boat Records, debut video for “L.O.S.E.”

For the uninitiated (which included me until about four minutes ago), Duffy’s Cut are a Philadelphia-based four-piece whose sound is described as “British invasion and Motown with broken glass and baseball bats.” The band have announced that they’ve signed to Oi! The Boat Records and are planning their debut, self-titled release. Click here for pre-order options. “Duffy’s Cut” is slated for digital/CD/vinyl release on 1/1/14.

But that’s not all. The band recently debuted a video for the track “L.O.S.E.” The track is set to appear on the upcoming release, and you can check the video out below.
