Introducing Finnish punk act: Fladderpuck (free album download)

Finland may be known for its multitude of metal bands, but here’s one Finnish punk band you really should be listening to. Fladderpuck have been described as “Very Good Riddancey,” and I completely agree with that sentiment. Very fast, in your face, and to the point, with a palpable sense of angst and purpose, you can “feel” the music as much as you hear it. Listen to and/or download their latest album, Kings & Beggars, for free/name your price below. I’d recommend a certain track, but they’re all pretty damn good. As a bonus, you learned a new hockey term; Fladderpuck: Swedish ice hockey terminology for a shot that is fluttering through the air.

Introducing Horror-Punk Act: The Anti-Bodies (full album stream)

How the hell is this the first I’m hearing of this band? I’d love to tell you Buffalo’s horror-punk act The Anti-Bodies are new to the scene but alas it looks like they’ve been jamming for at least a few years and I’m ashamed to not have brought them to your guys’ attention sooner. Think heavily Misfits influenced punk rock with female vocals and great production quality. I dare say they’re going to give The Creepshow a run for their money as leaders of the female fronted horror-punk scene. The band has just re-released their self-titled full-length with new artwork and better promotion (guess its working!) and you can stream it below.

Stream the best banjo infused punk song of the year by super weird experimental band Shore Leave

I’ve been running DS for 7 years now so its rare that I come across something as unique as Shore Leave‘s debut EP “Guilt Free Novelty Songs”. Not sure how to qualify this Seattle band’s sound so I won’t bother but I will tell you their genre spanning song “Redneck Radio” is quite worthy of a little attention. Featuring chugging electrical guitars, banjos, violins, accordions, trumpets, organs, bells and even a tuba this song is as fast as it hilarious so plug those headphones in, crank up the volume and enjoy below.

New Band Spotlight: Hope Street (Australia Punk Rock)

Alright all you fans of melodic and passionate punk rock, we got a new band for you to check out who should be right up your alley.  Hope Street hails from Perth, Australia and plays a style of punk rock that seamlessly blends the old with the new, taking equally from old school ’77 style punk and street punk, as well as some modern melodic hardcore elements.  The band recently released their new EP Rebel Hearts and you can check it out below.

The Mercenaries (reggae-punk) premiere “Night Call” off upcoming album “Rocky Road”

Equal parts reggae rocksteady and street punk, Parisian punk act The Mercenaries are poised to release their debut full-length “Rocky Road” on November 11th. I’ve only heard one track from it but I think it’s safe to say this is now my most anticipated album of the season – it’s that good. If you fell instantly in love with Rancid’s “I Wanna Riot” the first time you heard it, you’re also going to love The Mercenaries track “Night Call”. Give it a listen below.

Introducing New Gritty Punk Act: Raincheck (full EP stream)

OK punk enthusiasts, here’s a new group to check out if you fancy yourself a fan of gritty yet melodic punk acts a la Sainte Catherines. Raincheck hales from Lyon and the fivesome are clearly not new to the scene as this debut sounds better than most band’s 2nd or 3rd release. Anywho, stop reading and start listening below.

Introducing New Punk Act: Guttural Riot (full EP stream)

Now this is what what I’m talking about. New punk act Guttural Riot consists of Alex “Sugar” Feuer and Michael “Gunther” Elliott and without any fluff or fanfare they’ve released a pretty kickass debut, self-titled EP that shreds through 4 tracks of heavy punk rock that falls somewhere between RKL and Andrew WK. Its fun stuff and I recommend you give it a listen below.

Introducing Melodic Skate Punk Act: Born To Freedom (free download)

Fans of melodic, speedy punk rock will want to check this one out. Brazil’s Born To Freedom have put out their first proper release, titled “Life Is Movement,” and we recommend you give them a chance to win you over below. Did we mention it’s free?

“Life Is Movement” is the band’s first release since their 2012 demo. Worth the wait if you ask me.

Introducing New Street Punk Act: Silent Opposition (full album stream)

Seattle punk act Silent Opposition recently released their debut full-length “The Rhetoric Of Social Change” and we highly recommend you check it out below. The production is solid and the band clearly pulls a lot of influences from 90’s punk staples. Think Chuck Ragan singing in a Hellcat Records street punk band and you’ll be close to their sound.

Introducing French Melodic Hardcore Band: Adversity (ft. former members of Bigblast)

When French melodic hardcore band Bigblast broke up in 2015, 4 members of the band formed a new project called Adversity. Now, after months of recording, their debut EP Figure Out has released through KROD Records. The EP features a nice mix of blazing fast punk rock, hardcore breakdowns, and shredding guitar riffs. It’s almost like Atlas Losing Grip, Strike Anywhere, and Mute fornicated and had a beautiful little punk rock baby. Give Figure Out a listen below, and if you like what you hear, head over to Adversity’s Bandcamp Page to buy it.

Introducing New Gritty Pop-Punk Act: The Bumpin Uglies (free EP download)

What is it about Winnipeg that seems to churn out great punk acts? The Bumpin’ Uglies are the city’s latest credit to the melodic punk scene and while I don’t know much about the mysterious five piece I do know they might be the best new band discovery I’ve made this Summer. I can’t quite decide if I’d classify them as pop-punk or skate punk but I’m fairly certain their debut EP “…Fuck Up My Whole Weekend” will have something for just about any fan of either sub-genre. See for yourself and stream the entire release below.

Introducing French Punk Band: Sordid Ship (Free EP Download)

Lorient, France’s Sordid Ship have been around for a few years, and have released a handful of EPs in that time. They play fast, hard-nosed punk rock in the vein of bands like the Circle Jerks and Adolescents. The band’s most recent EP Cocaine Offshore just came out, and if you haven’t heard of these guys yet, I highly recommend checking it out. Give the EP a listen below, and download it for free on Bandcamp.

Introducing Pop-Punk Act: Total Bummer (free EP download)

Looking for a new pop-punk band to discover before all your friends do? Then look no further because we’re serving you up Atlanta’s Total Bummer on a silver plate. The band leans heavily towards the skate-punk side of pop-punk with guitars heavily reminiscent of “Twisted By Design” era Strung Out. The group just released their 3 song debut as a free download on bandcamp and you can stream the entire thing below.
