Following a recent tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the party-punk staple “I Get Wet,” Andrew W.K. has announced that he will be releasing a special deluxe edition of the album on August 28th via Century Media.

The special reissue will be available as both a 2-CD and double gatefold LP set.  The first disc features the original tracklist of “I Get Wet,” while the second disc features live and extended versions of the songs.  For the tracklist, click here.

Aside from his recent tour and mention of a new album, Andrew W.K. will also be speaking at the My Little Pony Fan Convention in Ohio this September, giving a lecture entitled “What Would Pinkie Pie Do?”  I think we all know the answer to that question, though: she’d probably party.

Andrew W.K.(or his doppelganger?) announced as speaker at….”My Little Pony” Convention

Moderate partier Andrew W.K. has been announced as a speaker at, uh, a September convention for the cult show “My Little Pony,” which, despite the title, apparently has a huge following of 18-35 year old males. Andrew will be leading a discussion entitled “What Would Pinkie Pie Do?” in an exploration of Pinkie Pie, a pony who shares many of W.K.’s rambunctious qualities.

Editor’s Note: We cannot be sure that this is not, in fact, the growingly infamous Andrew W.K. Doppelganger. Editors Note To The Editor: Yes, we can be sure! Andrew confirmed his appearance on twitter.

Glassjaw members allegedly witness Andrew W.K. imposter mug 60 year old man

The concept of a Doppelgänger(an evil body double) has existed for ages in German folklore, and accounts of people running into their treacherous look-alikes pop up every now and then. The latest “victims”? Party metal enthusiast Andrew W.K. and the 60 year old man his double allegedly mugged in an Indonesian restaurant in New York last week. Did I mention that Justin Beck and Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw happened to be eating there at the time?

The whole thing was reported by Beck’s wife Melissa, who told the Internet about her husband’s encounter with a soup-eating “roadie looking motherf*cker” who annoyed the restaurant’s few patrons by blasting metal music on his phone while eating. Allegedly, when asked by a 60-year old man if he could turn the music down, the guy mugged him (the account is less clear on what actually happened at this point.) Read Melissa’s full account here.

The whole time, Beck, also eating in the restaurant, was texting his bandmate Daryl, who was on his way to meet up.  Beck began to suspect the man to actually be their former tourmate Andrew W.K., with no proof, until a fatal give away: Ass tattoo. Yup, Beck quickly googled a picture of Andrew W.K.’s ass to verify matching tattoos with the “dirty roadie motherf*cker.”

Andrew W.K. has denied involvement, claiming an imposter is on the loose. It seems Melissa and Andrew have both agreed that an evil look-alike must be on the loose and clearly must be stopped.

Andrew W.K. finishing up new album

In a recent interview, party rock/punk star Andrew W.K. commented on his plans to finish an upcoming album:

“Well, I am working all this winter on finishing my new album, so I would like to think that would be done soon after that. It’s a rock and roll album, so it will have full guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, and vocals. It will be a great soundtrack for a party. It will be a party album.”

No real surprises there, but the album will be yet another 2012 release to look forward to.

Andrew recently released a new music video supporting the World Snowboarding Championships in Oslo, Norway. Check it our here.
