Toronto, Ontario’s Sparrows, released their sophomore album, Let the Silence Stay Where it Was on October 14th through New Damage Records, now available in both physical and digital format. In tandem with the album release, the boys are also putting together a few short ‘Making of’ documentary style videos, to show fans what went into the making of this ten track masterpiece. Episode Two (of four) is now up and this one focuses more on fellow Canadian emo rocker and producer Kenny Bridges of Moneen fame and the role he’s played in the band’s evolution through the years. Feminist, hardcore act Petrol Girls have released a music video for their new single “Phallocentric”. The track is taken from their forthcoming debut album “Talk of Violence”.
The song is a hard-hitting commentary on male dominance, the freedom of sexual expression and the discrediting of boundaries that society has set for gender roles and what is deemed “acceptable”.

Post-hardcore legends Quicksand performed live at this year’s The Wrecking Ball ATL festival, which took place from August 12-14 at the Masquerade in Atlanta, Georgia. In case you missed the performance, you now get to watch it in its entirety below.
After two breakups and one reunion, Quicksand reunited again in 2012 and have since been performing live sporadically. The band has reportedly been working on what will be their first record since 1995’s Manic Compression. We’ll keep you posted as more details on it come to light.

“Progress” was released through Maximum-10 Records on the 17th of August. SHADOWS is made up of previous members of FACT and formed earlier this year. “Progress” marks their second EP in their first year under the new name.
