Punk Rock Trivia: Axl Rose freaks out over “Reinventing” album, tortures Against Me! voodoo dolls

Now, obviously there is no way to confirm this, but we’ll tell you what’s been rumored about the absolutely hilarious aftermath of “Reinventing Axl Rose,” the debut album of Against Me!, because it’s among the funniest punk rock trivia/rumors out there.

For those of you unaware, the album title “Reinventing Axl Rose” refers to the all-too-common phenomenon of a rock artist losing touch with what’s important in the music. The band has repeatedly stated that the title is not a vicious attack on the famed Guns N’ Roses singer. However, not everyone believes that’s true; most notably, Axl Rose himself.

Apparently, when a copy of the record was given to Axl Rose, he went absolutely insane, smashed the record, and made his very own little Against Me! voodoo dolls that he tortured. I don’t know if you can make that up.

This account comes from the band manager of hardcore band Boy Set Fire, who produced bits of Rose’s album “Chinese Democracy.” Watch the video explanation from an AM! tour video here.
