On December 11th Pacific Ridge Records will be releasing “A Tribute to The Movielife”, a tribute to pioneering melodic hardcore group the The Movielife (if that wasn’t obvious). One of the contributing artists is Shane Henderson, former frontman of pop punk group Valenica, who covered “Ship to Shore”. Check it out here.

Philadelphia pop punk band Valencia initially announced their indefinite hiatus about a year ago, in a move that left fans continuing to clamor for more music from their beloved band.
Frontman Shane Henderson has thrown those fans a proverbial bone via his Tumblr page. Today, Henderson streamed the previously-unreleased demo “Best Is Yet To Come.” Click here to check it out, and to read a message from the man himself.

Philadelphia pop punk band Valencia initially announced their indefinite hiatus almost a year ago.Not a lot has been heard from members of their camp since, though frontman Shane Henderson has taken to the Twitterverse today to announce that he’s looking to start a Max Bemis-style song shop:

Henderson has also appeared solo under the moniker Promise Of Redemption, hence the “POR” reference in the tweets. Guess this means there are no imminent plans for a Valencia return on the horizon.
The band’s last release was 2010′s “Dancing With A Ghost,” released on I Surrender Records.

Shane Henderson, the frontman of Philly pop-punk act Valencia, recently sat down with the folks at Radio 104.5 to chat about his new solo career, saying that he’s looking to put out some music with not as strong pop-punk influences.

Shane Henderson, vocalist for occasionally hiatused Philly pop-punk band Valencia, has a bit of a solo gig going on the side, and he’s taking on a worthy cause in honor of Valentine’s Day: he wants to get his fans laid.

Philly pop punk act Valencia have announced that they are going on hiatus and that their last show will be in Philadelphia on December 28th, 2011. Here’s a portion of the band’s statement:
“This band started when we were teenagers, and now, as we enter our mid-to-late twenties, we’ve decided that it’s time for us to scale back our time on the road and explore the other elements of life that are not as easily accessible while touring full time. We aren’t considering this our band breaking up, because if that was the case, this situation would feel very final, and it doesn’t feel that way to us. It remains natural for us to write music together and there is always a possibility that we will release new music as Valencia sometime in the future. In the meantime, new music will be written and released by each of us and when that happens, we will let you know. In honor of starting this next chapter, please join us on December 28th, 2011 for one last show in our hometown of Philadelphia, at the Electric Factory. We hope you’ll be there with us to share one of the most personal, memorable, and important nights of our lives. Thank you all for everything – the letters, the tattoos, the years of listening, for so many countless, priceless sentiments – there’s no way we could ever fully express our gratitude for everything you’ve done for us. We’ve been given the chance to go down a path not many are able to take, and because you’ve had our backs through the story that is our band, we’re able to continue that journey through whatever comes next for us.”

Former Valencia drummer Maxim Soria died tragically in a motorcycle accident last night (September 30th) in Warwick, PA. According to Phillyburbs.com, local police say he lost control of his motorcycle while driving on a rural highway and hit a guardrail; he was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
Soria played with the band from 2003-2009. He was 28 years old.

Another track from the upcoming Alkaline Trio tribute double album has found its way to your ears. This time, the artist is Promise of Redemption (solo side project of Valencia frontman Shane Henderson) and the song is “Take With Lots of Alcohol,” from A3′s 2001 album “From Here to Infirmary.”
