Emily’s Army change name to Swimmers

I hate it when a band changes its name.  It’s just confusing and not to mention a pain in the ass for music blogs who already have profiles set up for them under their former name.  Well, that’s what Oakland pop-punk act Emily’s Army have done.  Apparently they’re “slowly” changing their name to Swimmers.  You can read some of their explanation for it below:

So there you have it.  If they’re still considered pop-punk this time next year no one can say, but let’s at least hope their young adult selves get better at grammar (not that we can talk much).

Emily’s Army’s… errr…. Swimmers’ new EP Swim was released on July 22nd through Rise Records, who also handled the 2013 release of the band’s sophomore album Lost At Seventeen.

Emily’s Army have guitars stolen from practice space

Emily’s Army guitarists Max and Cole Becker had their guitars stolen from the band’s SoCal practice space last night. The band posted the above image of the guitars on their Facebook page, along with the following statement earlier today:

“Our guitarists @maxbeckaaa and @coleyoley5’s guitars were stolen last night… all three of them have a lot of sentimental value. Something you can’t replace. the first is Max’s new red #Danelectro. The second is Cole’s dark green #Decca Japanese guitar. The third is Cole’s first guitar and one that has traveled all over the world with and has played tons of shows. This guitar has a Swingin’ Utters sticker on it. The guitar is called “SODA” and has a soda can carved into it. It’s a brown Telecaster deluxe. These were stolen out of practice space in SoCal!”

Hopefully the guys get their shit back! I can’t imagine what it’s like to have an instrument taken from you, especially one that you started playing on, but I’m assuming it’s not very fun.
