El Topo Goes Loco (festival, Belgium) announce first wave of bands

The European punk rock festival season just seems to get better and better every year. Adding to the ever filling summer schedule is El Topo Goes Loco, a smaller festival in Belgium. The weekend celebration of grassroots punk rock, reggae and ska have announced the first wave of bands that will make up this year’s lineup. The bands featured are: The Toasters, Altitude, Gert Kleinpunk, Crazy Arm, Great Cynics, FOD, Popes of Chillitown, Prince Beastly and Almeida.

The event will take place in Jeugdhuis Tydeeh, Belgium and tickets are available on May 26 and 27, 2017. You can find out everything you need to know, including ticket information, from the festival’s Facebook page.



Great Cynics release music video for new song “Only in Memories”

London rockers Great Cynics have released a music video for a new song titled “Only in Memories,” which is taken from their upcoming album POSI. Check it out below.

POSI is set to release on March 24th, 2017 through Specialist Subject Records. It will serve as the follow-up to the band’s 2015 LP I Feel Weird.

Initial lineup announced for 2016 Manchester (UK) Punk Fest (Ducking Punches, Darko and lots more)

It’s still a bunch of months away, but preliminary information has been released for the 2016 installment of the Manchester Punk Festival. Going in to its second year, the MPF is a grassroots effort spearheaded by three local, DIY promoters. The gig takes place April 22nd and 23rd at a variety of different venues, and the preliminary lineup includes the likes of Ducking Punches, Darko, Great Cynics, Wonk Unit, and a bunch more. London alt-rockers Great Cynics recently stopped by Live At The Lab to perform a couple of songs. Check out the video below.

“I Feel Weird” was originally due to be released April 13th 2015 via Specialist Subject Records, but now it’s slated for release May 18th.

Great Cynics announce upcoming album

London’s Great Cynics have just announced some details on a new album. While an official release date has not been announced, they confirm that it will be launched some time in 2015 via Specialist Subject Records.

This news comes as the group announced their tour opening for The Smith Street Band on their upcoming Australia tour, whose dates can be found here.

On the upcoming tour and pending release, enthusiastic frontman Giles Bidder commented:

It’s so awesome to be brought over to Australia by our friends The Smith Street Band. We’re a little band from London and Devon, and we’re going to the other side of the world to tour for five weeks! It’s wild! We’re also just about finished making our new full-length, which will be out in Spring next year on a label we love.

Great Cynics’ last release was a split with Muncie Girls that was released on March 10th through Specialist Subject.

London’s Great Cynics are streaming their new single that features the songs “Lost & Found” and “Wet Feet.”  You can check out the single here.

Lost & Found was released on a limited run of cassettes that have already sold out online, but the band will have copies on their European tour with Joyce Manor and Cheap Girls.

Joyce Manor, Cheap Girls and Great Cynics will be playing 15 shows throughout Europe in November. The dates are listed above.

Joyce Manor are touring in support of their new album “Never Hungover Again,” out now on Epitaph.
