DS Staff Picks – Top 10 Albums of 2012 (Tim)

So I’ll start by saying that I’m really irresponsible. Technically, the deadline for this list is one hour and twenty seven minutes from now, and I’m only just starting. I’ll continue by saying that writing this list is going to be really difficult. You know why? Because this was a fan-damn-tastic year for new music. Like damn guys, a really great year. I had the chance to buy almost every release I was stoked on, and each one has stayed in constant rotation since I purchased it. I’d almost bet that you could go to a record store, say “give me a record from 2012”, and you’d love it. For this reason, I’m only going to number the three releases that I know I’ll carry with me out of this year. So, here we go.

One Man Army recording new songs, planning to record new full-length album in December

AWESOME! Remember when we reported that San Francisco punk act One Man Army were reunited and re-releasing their first two albums with new songs? Well apparently they will be recording a new full-length album as well. Here’s what they had to say,

We are in the midst of recording four new songs for the Adeline Records re-release of “Last Word Spoken” and “Dead End Stories”. Two new songs to be included with each re-release along with new artwork by Mary Joy. We started recording last week with Jamie McMann in San Francisco. Brandon finished the drums on Monday. Jack is working on guitars and starts singing tomorrow. The plan is to record a new Full Length sometime in December, also to be released by Adeline Records.”

The band’s latest release was 2002′s “Rumors & Headlines” on Adeline Records

Each release will be available on vinyl w/digital download, and of course through your favorite digital retailer. Stay tuned for more details.”
