Animalhaus singer John Barlow passes away

John Barlow, lead singer of Pennsylvania hardcore-punk act Animalhaus, has passed away. The band had the following to say on their Facebook page:

“It’s with the heaviest of hearts I let you guys know our singer John Barlow has passed away. We will always love him and continue to be with him through the amazing songs he left us with… We love and miss you John.”

A cause of death was not mentioned, but a post from John’s brother Brian Barlow says John had been hospitalized for several weeks. Brian Barlow’s full post below.

Animalhaus went on “hiatus” in 2012, but planned a few festival appearances in the fall of 2013, which were eventually cancelled due to “internal struggles within the band.”

Animalhaus seemingly announce hiatus

It appears as though PA hardcore group Animalhaus have decided to go on a hiatus. The group posted this message on their official facebook page today:

“Animals,

After a few crazy years in the hell party the Haüs has decided to take a much needed break. We have been through multiple members and a plethora of vehicle accidents and injuries. Now it’s time to relax and recover.

We truly appreciate everyone who has supported us along the way and we hope because of that we will be able to get back on our grind for you in the future.

We also regret to say we will not be playing this Friday the 21st in philly. As of now we still plan to play Jan 12th in Lansdale with our friends in Wisdom And Chains and Yellow Stitches.

Thanks again

Animalhaüs”

Dying Scene recently had an interview with vocalist John Barlow, and it seemed as though the group had been writing new songs and preparing to record. No word yet on what this might mean for a new record.

Interview: John Barlow returns to Animalhaüs, talks recovery and band’s future

Like many bands, PA hardcore-punk outfit Animalhaüs has had its share of problems as a DIY, touring band, usually van related.  Last February, however, tragedy struck when vocalist John Barlow was involved in a serious car accident returning home from the band’s record release show.  His injuries forced him to step down from vocal duties while the band carried on with a temporary replacement in friend Paul Brown.  Today we’re very pleased to report that John has finally recovered enough to rejoin his compatriots in Animalhaüs.  We caught up with him to talk about his triumphant return and what Animalhaüs has in store for fans in the new year.

Animalhaus drummer Buckles leaving the band; replacement announced

Pennsylvania hardcore act Animalhaus announced today that their drummer, Buckles, is leaving the band. Don’t worry, his replacement has already been found. Here’s the statement from the band:

It is with heavy hearts that we officially announce to the world that our set on Sunday at East Coast Tsunami Fest will be the last show that our drummer Buckles will be playing with the band. He will be concentrating on school and his career, hopefully getting a 2nd lead in an off-broadway, pantomimed adaptation of ‘Pippin’.

After Tsunami Fest, the role of drums will be taken over by Jimmy Huston( Barricade, Bad Blood, etc), he has already practiced with us and played an emergency show when we were in a pinch.

Please come out and rage with us and Buckles, wishing him well in his endeavors and welcoming Jimmy to the band at the same time.

Animalhaus most recently released “The Boys from Barley Hill” in February on One Day Savior Records.
