Old Lines and author Will Potter stream split EP

Baltimore’s salty hardcore heroes Old Lines (founded by Mitch Roemer, formerly of Pulling Teeth and Ruiner) have teamed up with social activist Will Potter to release a split EP, To Build a Fire. Old Lines contribute two vicious new tunes that bookend the release, while Potter’s contributions lay in the middle and consist of spoken word pieces that tackle complacency and normalization of loss of information privacy in the modern age.

You can stream To Build a Fire below.

Old Lines previously released No Child Left Behind in October 2014 via No Sleep Records.

Old Lines (hardcore) working on new EP

Baltimore’s political d-beat purveyors, Old Lines (founded by Mitch Roemer, formerly of Pulling Teeth and Ruiner) are currently tracking a new EP with engineer/producer Kevin Bernstein (Full Of Hell, ILSA, Mutilation Rites) at his Developing Nations studio. The as-of-yet unnamed EP follows Old Lines‘ previous efforts that include a 2013 EP, “If You See Something, Say Something”, on Reptilian Records and 2014’s No Sleep Records debut, “No Child Left Behind”, which were also recorded with Bernsten.

For this current go-around, Old Lines have rotated in a new bassist, Calvin Joiner, who joins longtime members including singer Matt Taylor, drummer Jake Berry, and guitarist Mitch Roemer (ex-Pulling Teeth). Apart from this latest member shift, Old Lines are also employing the help of environmental activists to contribute towards the new effort’s overarching political messages. Old Lines have long focused on such political issues as inequality, gender, and race relations with this latest effort taking an aim at current environmental issues.

Label details are expected to emerge in the near future as the record heads to Brad Boatright (Nails, Baptists, Die Choking) of Audiosiege for mastering efforts. Old Lines will be making continued studio updates from the band’s Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Old Lines is scheduled to take part in this year’s Maryland Deathfest annual takeover of Baltimore as the band will play May 21st during the Sidebar side-event with Silence, Bombs, and Humanmania.

Old Lines stream track “Paint Them Gold” off upcoming album “No Child Left Behind”

Baltimore punks Old Lines (founded by Mitch Roemer, formerly of Pulling Teeth and Ruiner) have just debuted a new track, “Paint Them Gold”, and you can stream it here.

The song is featured on their upcoming album No Child Left Behind, which is set to be released October 14th.

On the track, vocalist Matt Taylor commented:

“Paint Them Gold” is about how large corporations manipulate people into accepting a quick buck or a short term fix while ignoring the big picture. Energy companies are buying up farmland all over the country to start fracking operations, and doing so by taking advantage of struggling families with empty promises of fixing their financial situation. Inevitably, Capitalism will always win and the farmers will lose more and more until they are left with nothing. This song is a plea for all of us to start considering the damage that will come from looking for an easy way out, and a battle cry to end the  cooperation with those who would sooner destroy our earth than help anything that lives on it.

The band’s last release, their “If You See Something, Say Something” EP, was released last October via Reptilian Records.

The group is set to head out on tour shortly following the album’s release, so if you like what you hear, you can check out the dates and locations for that tour below.
