“4-way V-Day Split” stream featuring Hundred Acre Woods, Julia Brown, Modern Baseball & Old Gray

Philly folk act The Hundred Acre Woods, Baltimore based pop outfit Julia Brown, Philadelphia’s Modern Baseball and New Hampshire post-hardcore/screamo act Old Gray are streaming a 4-way split via Topshelf Records‘ Bandcamp page. You can listen to it below.

On the release, Cam Boucher of Old Gray had this to say: “With all of our respective bands currently working to promote records of our own, we thought it would be nice to come together and try to use any attention that we’ve recieved as bands to help give back to the community. Thus, on Valentine’s Day of this year, Modern Baseball, Old Gray, Julia Brown, and The Hundred Acre Woods have decided to release a four way digital split, donating any and all proceeds to V-Day, a global charity to end violence against women and girls.

Modern Baseball announces split & tour with The Superweaks, Thin Lips

Philadelphia quartet Modern Baseball are releasing a new three-way split with fellow Philly rockers The Superweaks and Thin Lips. Check out the cover art to the left and the tracklisting below. You can also stream Thin Lips’ track, “Not Losing Sleep,” right over here.

To go along with the new split, the three bands are also heading out on a European/UK tour starting later this month. Check out those dates/locations, along with the tour poster, also below.

All three bands released a new album in 2016; Modern Baseball released Holy Ghost in May, Thin Lips also released their debut album, Riff Hard, in May, while The Superweaks released Better Heavens in November.

Philadelphia’s Modern Baseball have announced an extensive US headlining tour, also featuring Kevin Devine, Sorority Noise, and The Obsessives. You can check out the tour dates below.

Free music: Run For Cover records making all music “pay what you want” for the weekend

“In light of recent events,” Boston record label Run For Cover Records is now making it’s entire Bandcamp catalog available for free/name your price download, for this weekend only. Check it all out over here.

There’s quite a lot of music available to download, including albums from Modern Baseball, Tigers Jaw, Hostage Calm, Man Overboard, Self Defense Family, and Pity Sex, just to name a few.

For money earned through Sunday, the label will give 100% of the proceeds to Planned Parenthood. Not only that, but they’ll also match the donations up to $5,000.

Video: Modern Baseball’s Brendan Lukens does acoustic versions of “Apple Cider, I Don’t Mind” and “Just Another Face”

Brendan Lukens of Modern Baseball is this week’s Punks in Vegas Stripped Down Session artist. They filmed two songs with the emo band’s co-frontman at the Las Vegas Zine Library while he was on tour with his other band Broken Break.

Check out Brendan doing acoustic versions of “Apple Cider, I Don’t Mind” and “Just Another Face” below.

Both songs come from Modern Baseball’s 2016 album Holy Ghost, which is available now via Run For Cover Records.

Modern Baseball kicked off a California tour that includes dates with Chris Farren, Walter Etc., the Descendents and more yesterday and will be hitting the road again later this October for a full US tour supporting Brand New and Front Bottoms.

Brand New, The Front Bottoms, and Modern Baseball have announced they will be touring the US together this fall. All of the dates and locations can be found below.

Brand New’s latest album Daisy was released in 2009 on Interscope Records, while The Front Bottoms’ Back on Top came out in 2015 through Fueled By Ramen. Modern Baseball released Holy Ghost earlier this year on Run For Cover Records.

Pentimento, Modern Baseball, Beach Slang and more appear on Susiepalooza benefit compilation

There’s a pretty awesome compilation featuring a bunch of awesome bands coming out in a couple weeks, and you should probably check it out. The release is called “The Great Big Susiepalooza Comp, Volume 1,” and it benefits the Lustgarten Foundation, a charity that helps in the fight against pancreatic cancer (the compilation’s namesake, Sue Marchetti, died of pancreatic cancer in 2014). The comp is out March 25th, and features bands like Beach Slang, Modern Baseball, Abandon All Ships, Pentimento, Superheaven, and more. Pre-order yours here.

Philadelphia’s Modern Baseball are gearing up to release their third LP, Holy Ghost, later this year, and to support the new album they are streaming not one but two new songs, “Everyday” and “Apple Cider, I Don’t Mind.” Additionally, the band will be heading out on a US tour this summer. Joining them on the road for The Holy Ghost Tour will be Joyce Manor and Thin Lips.
