Punk’s Most Wanted: 5 Punks Who Have Landed In Serious Legal Trouble

Despite what society might think of us, not all punks are criminals.  I don’t need to be the one to tell you that most mohawk flaunting, leather jacket wearing so called hooligans are really quite kindhearted, law abiding citizens underneath their tattooed and pierced exteriors.  That doesn’t mean, however, that we’ve all managed to steer clear of trouble.  From noble to downright senseless, below is a list of 5 of punk rock’s more notorious run ins with johnny law man.

Modern Life Is War drummer loses it, provokes police into car chase, ends in jail time

I know what you’re thinking.  There’s no way the sweet and innocent face pictured to the left could possibly cause any mischief but I’m here to tell you the shocking reality.  Tyler Oleson, drummer of Iowa’s melodic hardcore act Modern Life Is War, has apparently gone bananas.

On Saturday night Oleson allegedly drove up next to a Marshalltown cop car, flipped off the officer driving and then attempted to ram him off the road.  A short car chase ensued ending with a collision caused by Oleson and followed by a foot chase and a good old tasering.

Oleson is now charged with alluding criminal mischief in the second degree, aggravated assault, and OWI first offense. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed.

Modern Life Is War detail new album “Fever Hunting”

Iowa’s iconic melodic hardcore punk band Modern Life Is War will release their new album “Fever Hunting” on September 3rd via Deathwish Inc.

Modern Life is War is returning to form with original lineup of Chris Honeck, Matt Hoffman, Jeffrey Eaton, Tyler Oleson and John Eich in place.  Here’s what Deathwish is saying about the album:

A true story of their collective coming of age, “Fever Hunting” plays and reads as an open diary of their last five years. Exposing every frayed nerve and internal struggle that it’s creators carried deep within their hearts. Impassioned, embattled, and forever resilient to the world outside.

From the first strikes of the anthemic opener “Old Fears, New Frontiers” it’s apparent that Modern Life Is War have not lost a step in absence, but have quickened pace on their own path. From there, the outpouring is overwhelming as eleven songs unfurl with equal and unmatched emotional weight. All of them bravely moving forward rather than resting on past laurels.

The album was recorded by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios (Converge, etc) and mastered by Brad Boatwright at Audiosiege Engineering (From Ashes Rise, etc).

Modern Life Is War will be playing the 2013 This Is Hardcore Festival in Philly, PA on Friday August 9th.
