Anakin team up with Motion City’s Justin Pierre for single “Spaced Out”

San Diego punks Anakin have teamed up with Motion City Soundtrack’s Justin Pierre on their new single “Spaced Out.” According to Brad Chancellor, “The song “Spaced-Out” is really just about my lifelong battle with severe anxiety and somewhat mild paranoia. I was officially diagnosed in 2015 and was able to get on meds to help right my brain. I’m finally feeling like I’m taking back control of my life after all those years of living in a shell of myself.”

This single will be apart of their EP project for the next twelve months in which Anakin will debut a five new EPs over the course of twelve months. Each one will feature an original song and a cover of a song that is representative of their song-writing influences.

No Sleep Records release “No Sleep ’till Christmas 7” compilation (Rocky Votolato, Lee Corey Oswald and more)

The kind folks at Huntington Beach-based label No Sleep Records have just released their the newest installment of their No Sleep ‘Till Christmas compilation series. This year’s edition, the 7th in the series, features holiday-themed offerings from the likes of the likes of Lee Corey Oswald, Anakin, Foreign Tongues, Looming, and the great Rocky Votolato.

Anakin stream Beach Boys tribute EP “Wouldn’t It Be Nice/God Only Knows” in full

San Diego based alternative space-rock band Anakin are streaming their two-track EP featuring two covers of The Beach Boys in its entirety. You can listen to it below.

The mini tribute EP was released last Friday (June 5th) through the band’s newly created label, Kenobi Records. It is the debut release for the label. Anakin previously released Celestial Frequency Shifter this past February through No Sleep Records.



Anakin announce Beach Boys tribute EP

San Diego based alternative space-rock band Anakin have announced that they will release a two-track EP featuring two covers of Beach Boys classics this June. Check out the tracklisting and cover art below.

According to Anakin drummer Brad Chancellor, “the Beach Boys have been an undeniable inspiration to Jonathan and I since we were kids.  With Pet Sounds about to turn 50 years old next year and the new biopic Love & Mercy that comes out this Summer, we believe the time to do this tribute is now.”

Anakin sign to No Sleep Records, announce new album “Celestial Frequency Shifter,” stream new song “Satellite”

San Diego based alternative space-rock band Anakin have announced that they have been signed to No Sleep Records, who will release the band’s upcoming full-length album, Celestial Frequency Shifter, on February 3rd, 2015. Check out the tracklisting below.

Anakin features fuzzy, outer space influenced, synth-led music influenced by Blue-era Weezer, Nirvana, and the Rentals. They last released a split EP with Sidewave this past summer, and have an EP and another full-length already under their belt.
