DS Exclusive: Stream the Hempsteadys new album, “Séance! Séance!”

We’re excited to bring you the exclusive stream of ska/punk small army The Hempsteadys, newest album, “Séance! Séance!” The eleven-piece group has more people than I can fit in my apartment (at least without an awful lot of dismemberment, that, frankly, I don’t have the energy for) and hails from New London, Connecticut.

“Séance! Séance!” is the Hempsteadys’ sophomore album, and if you like big, loud, ska with touches of the Clash & Bouncing Souls tempered with reggae beats, you should definitely check out the stream below. The album will be released August 1st and can be purchased at bandcamp.

The Hempsteadys first album was 2015’s “El Amor de Los Muertos.”

Tilt to reunite for Lookouting festival

Bay Area punks Tilt are reuniting once again for Lookouting festival on New Year’s Day (January 1st, 2017), which celebrates the defunct indie label Lookout! Records and will take place at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California. It will be Tilt’s second reunion show, following last year’s Fat Wrecked for 25 Years.

It is not known if there will be more shows or new material under the Tilt name, but we’ll keep you posted as more details on their future come to light. The band last released the compilation album, Been Where? Did What?, in 2001 through Fat Wreck Chords.

The Smugglers reuniting for Lookouting at 924 Gilman

Grant Lawrence of Vancouver’s The Smugglers has announced that his band will play their first show in over 12 years at an event scheduled for the historic 924 Gilman venue called “The Lookouting.”

The Berkley, CA show will feature a number of veteran acts from the now-defunct Lookout Records family performing between January 6th and 8th of 2017.
