Avenged Sevenfold stream new track “Dose”

Heavy metal favourites Avenged Sevenfold are streaming their latest track “Dose”. Calling it a “tripped out metal song”, the band’s vocalist M. Shadows had the following to say about the inspiration behind the tune:

The lyrics were inspired by an unsolved mystery that dates back to the 1950s about an airline traveler who, if you believe the story, supposedly fell into our dimension from another. According to reports, he showed up in a Tokyo airport with a passport from a country that didn’t exist anywhere on a map. He was detained for questioning, but mysteriously vanished from a room guarded by immigration officials, taking with him all evidence of his existence. It ties into the theory that there are infinite possibilities of our lives being played out across space and time.

Fans can enjoy “Dose” in all it’s “tripped out” finery below.

Brooks Wackerman talks about joining Avenged Sevenfold

Just two weeks after leaving Bad Religion and exactly a week after joining Avenged Sevenfold, drummer Brooks Wackerman talked about Metal Hammer magazine about what led to him becoming a member of the latter band. He explains:

“The first thing I did was go and tell my wife, and she gave me a kiss and we hugged. It was quite a poignant moment. And she said, ‘Go get ’em, tiger!’ [Laughs] Then I called my father and told him, who’s a music educator but wasn’t familiar with the band. So I showed him and few of the videos and he’s just my biggest supporter. I think just telling my family of what I was about to do was an exciting element.”

Avenged Sevenfold last released Hail to the King in 2013 via Warner Bros. Records, and have reportedly been working on a new album. As for Bad Religion, they have not yet announced a replacement for Wackerman, but they are still planning to tour South America in March and record a new album.

Brooks Wackerman joins Avenged Sevenfold

Just a week after announcing he would be leaving Bad Religion, of which he was a member for 15 years, drummer Brooks Wackerman seems to have found a new gig with Avenged Sevenfold.

The band’s frontman M. Shadows made the announcement on the latest episode of Fozzy singer and WWE star Chris Jericho’s podcast, stating that A7X wanted Wackerman to play on their last album Nightmare, “but at the time he was also busy with Bad Religion.” How inconvenient.

Avenged Sevenfold does not currently have any tour dates lined up, so it’s unclear when Brooks will make his debut with the band. Stay posted for more info.

Zacky Vengeance talks about next Avenged Sevenfold album

Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Zacky Vengeance told Billboard.com that the band will likely begin work on a new album after they finish touring in support of their latest album Hail to The King, which came out nearly a year ago. Zacky explains:

“I think once we get home, the ideas are going to start brewing. I know Syn’s been writing a ton purely for fun, trying different styles, recording backstage, keeping himself busy. I’ve been thinking of all sorts of ideas, listening to tons of different music to get inspiration — as have all of us. And being on tour, I’m so inspired. Seeing bands like Body Count with Ice-T out there, they’re so old-school and riff-based and over the top and slightly offensive and it’s fuckin’ awesome. So there’s tons of inspiration that I know we’ll be drawing from.”
