Jughead’s Revenge may play new music at Amnesia Rockfest

Back in 2012, we reported that Jughead’s Revenge were working on new material, and had signed to When’s Lunch Records for a new record, which, to date, has never arrived. Well, last night, they were asked on Facebook if they will play some new music at this year’s Amnesia Rockfest, which will take place later this month in Montebello, Canada. The band simply responded, “Maybe”.

Jughead’s Revenge, who reunited back in 2010 after an eight-year hiatus, have not released any material since their last studio album Pearly Gates, which was released back in 1999 on Nitro Records.

Random Cover Song: Jughead’s Revenge – “Surfing and Spying” (The Go-Go’s)

Cover songs are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get. We here at Dying Scene love hearing punk bands do their own take on other band’s songs. Sometimes they pull off amazing interpretations of old classics, sometimes they’re not much more than humble tributes to a fellow artist, and other times they’re just downright laughable renditions of otherwise great songs. Good or bad. Intriguing or mundane. We’ll let you be the judge.

Tonight’s cover song comes from Jughead’s Revenge and their cover version of “Surfing and Spying”, written by The Go-Go’s. The original version appeared as a B-side to The Go-Go’s 1981 iconic hit “Our Lips Are Sealed”, while Jughead’s Revenge’s version is the hidden track on their 1994 album Elimination.

You can listen to both versions of “Surfin’ and Spyin'” below.

Interview: Tyler Rebbe (Pulley) discusses the band’s plans for 2012 & more

Long-running SoCal punk act, Pulley‘s bassist, Tyler Rebbe, recently sat down for an interview where he answered a ton of questions about people seeing the band as a supergroup, their last EP, “The Long and the Short of It,” and the band’s plans for 2012.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview in which Rebbe talks about the upcoming Pulley full-length:
My wife had a baby right in the middle of Pulley season last year so we couldn’t’ commit to too much. This year should bring a bunch more Pulley. We are going to try very hard to record a full length album this winter. We have a bunch of songs already written for it. It’s been too much time since our last full length. Hopefully we’ll have the time to play a few more shows this year, too. Possibly flying in to some far off places for some weekend gigs.

You can check out the entire interview here.

Pulley last released, “The Long and the Short of It,” on vinyl in 2011 on When’s Lunch Records, and digitally through the band’s own label, X-Members Records. We’ll keep you posted as more details on the band’s upcoming full-length surface.
