Dying Scene Radio – Episode 7 – Band Spotlight: The Shell Corporation

Well, it took ’em long enough but the boys over at DSR are finally back with a new episode! The latest episode of excellent Punks In Pubs podcast, presented by ex-BBC Radio 1 Punk Show producer Liam Bird, is up . London, UK based podcast The Wasting Time Podcast has just reached episode 16 of it’s punk rock related ramblings. The guest for this show is Ollie John Ward of Great Cynics and Myelin.  Full details of the bands and releases they discuss are over on the pod website. It’s well worth a listen.

Dying Scene Radio – Episode 6 – Band Spotlight: Wolves & Wolves & Wolves & Wolves

Dying Scene Radio – Episode 5 – Band Spotlight: Decent Criminal (Bonus Interview w/ Shibby Pictures Founder, Jak Kerley)

It took longer than normal, but Episode Five of the new and improved Dying Scene Radio is finally here! Since the boys took so long to get us new shit, we made them pull double duty. So, jam those buds into your ears and check out the latest installment of DSR, featuring interviews with Northern California phenoms, Decent Criminal and Mr. Jak Kerley of Shibby Pictures at the Los Angeles screening of his newest documentary Baseball Punx. “Punks in Pubs” episode 7: Liam visits the Icelandic Punk Museum, drinks a beer

In this episode, Liam meets with Svarti, curator of the Icelandic Punk Museum in Reykjavik. Svarti gives him a crash course in Icelandic punk and talks about meeting Johnny Rotten/John Lydon, Svarti’s times spent homeless, and how the museum found its home in a public toilet.

The episode is finished off with a track from Abraskadabra‘s upcoming album.

“Punks in Pubs” Episode 6 featuring Chuck Robertson (Mad Caddies)

Liam Bird’s new must hear podcast “Punks in Pubs” is streaming episode 6, which features none other than Chuck Robertson of Mad Caddies. In this episode, Bird goes on a taste testing spree with Robertson in the back of a tourbus called Blackmagic Pub. The two talk about Robertson’s life with the Mad Caddies, work away from the band as a marijuana farmer, and the challenges of depression and divorce hand-in-hand. 

There is also a bit of ska era comparison for any ska heads that are looking for a good debate!

“Punks in Pubs” Podcast Episode 5 featuring Kerry McCarthy MP

Liam Bird’s new must hear podcast “Punks in Pubs” is streaming episode 5, which features Member of Parliament for Bristol East, Kerry McCarthy. In this episode McCarthy and Bird discuss whether leaders are “punk” or not, punk-inspired campaigning in politics, and the rapid closure of music venues and how legislation can help save them. 

This episode is a bit different from the others, but is an interesting listen nonetheless.

Dying Scene Radio – Episode 4 – Band Spotlight: Spanish Love Songs

Welcome to 2018, comrades! In case you were wondering, Bob’s resolution for this new year is to tighten up his editing time frames so that we’re not playing Christmas themed songs in January and Anarchopunk is pretty much perfect, so he has nothing to improve upon, thus no resolutions were established. We’re really hoping that your new year’s resolution was to listen to more punk news podcasts! If so, you’re really gonna dig this one! In this installment, we’re featuring a menagerie of international punk bands.  We’ve got French punks, British punks, South African punks, Canadian punks and we even sprinkled in some American punks with an interview from the Los Angeles based grouch punk act, Spanish Love Songs. Punks in Pubs interview Johnny Christianson (Reel Big Fish) for new episode

Former producer of the now defunct BBC Radio 1 Punk Rock Show, Liam Bird, recently started a bi-weekly (first and third Thursday of the month) punk rock podcast. The third episode sees an interview with Reel Big Fish trumpet player Johnny Christianson.

New punk rock podcast “Punks in Pubs”

Former producer of the now defunct BBC Radio 1 Punk Rock Show, Liam Bird has decided to start up a bi-weekly (first and third Thursday of the month) punk rock podcast. The new podcast will be called “Punks in Pubs” and features stories and interviews with the focus being punk rock in a pub/bar.

The first episode features an interview with Anti-Flag drummer Pat Thetic where they discuss the origin of the band, growing up a punk in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, politics past and present and they even discuss motorcycles and all things coloured black.

Dying Scene Radio Special Edition- Punk In Drublic Festival – Band Spotlight: Hilltop Rats and John Feldmann of Goldfinger

In this special edition of Dying Scene Radio, we sent the boys down to Orange County for the SoCal leg of Fat Mike’s Punk in Drublic Festival. Luckily, they left the free beer lines long enough to meet up with Washington punks, Hilltop Rats to talk about what it’s like to be shorn by Guttermouth and the perils of working in a porno distribution warehouse, among other things. If that isn’t enough to pique your interest (although we doubt it wasn’t), Bob also managed to snag a quick interview with the always dapper Goldfinger front man, Mr. John Feldmann as he made his way to the stage!
