Timekeep is not something I ever thought I’d be listening to. Specifically, Indonesian melodic hardcore, though the band prefers to describe themselves as “sadcore.” I can dig it.
Their debut single, “Suite,” starts off mellow with clean, jangly guitar and stream-of-consciousness vocal delivery that I’m into. A minute into the song, and it’s clear they’ve got a lot more energy than they’re letting on in the intro. I always feel like I’m awful at comparing bands to one another, but this kind of reminds me of early Dag Nasty or Rollins-era Black Flag, but with a more 90s epi-fat sound in the harder parts. The lyrics and vocals are angsty (I don’t mean that as an insult) and like I mentioned, delivered with a stream-of-consciousness, raw feel.
The band lists their influences as Comeback Kid, More Than Life, Casey, and more. They’re currently planning their debut EP.
You can find “Suite” iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon. I recommend going straight to their bandcamp page and throwing them a buck. I’m really looking forward to that EP. Check out “Suite” below.
