Abandon the Midwest Bio:
Zombies, poltergeists, the afterlife, and cheap beer: just a few topics that Orlando, Florida’s Abandon The Midwest have been wailing about since forming in October, 2011. Starting as a three piece by Matt Harmon (Vocals, Guitar) Jason Dodaro (Drums, Vocals) and Travis Jacobsen (Bass), the trio set began writing short, fast songs that combine gritty vocals with pop sensibilities, including personal lyrics that often used humor to comment on pop culture. In 2012, the band became a quartet with the addition of BJ Halls (Vocals, Guitar). Since then the band has been leveling audiences across Florida with their brand of raw melodic punk and sweat soaked raucous live shows. The band has shared the stage with infamous punk rockers, Guttermouth, Orlando hometown heroes The Supervillains, and Pop-Punk up and comers Real Friends and Light Years. The band has also performed on Rollins College Radio station WPRK and The Silver Surfer Vaporizer Vape Lab as well at the 2013 Hurricane Festival and 2012 and 2013’s Central Florida Punk and Hardcore Festival. In the summer of 2013 Abandon The Midwest joined The Supervillains and The Attack as part of the Rah Rah Rah Records roster and began recording an EP with label owners and Supervillains members Dan Grundorf and Dom Maresco. Slated for a February 2014 release, the debut EP, Scared Stupid will introduce the world to ATM’s riotous guitar riffs, precise rhythms, and unforgettable melodies. Starting with the single, “Hell,” this release will ensure that 2014 is a big year for Abandon The Midwest.
