B-SYDES was once in a band you know. Then he wasn’t in a band. Then he was. Then surprisingly, he wasn’t. We could go on. This is neither a new or unfamiliar story for anyone who has ever dipped a toe into the music industry. So after both enjoying and enduring the unpredictability of playing alongside other artists, B-SYDES - the stage name of the Cambridgeshire dwelling BENJAMIN SYDES decided to strike out on his own in 2009 and is yet to look back. The songwriter’s first EP 'Handshakes Turn to Headlocks' was self released at the end of 2010 and has proven to be a sampler of what he was capable of. It was said to have ‘Perfectly showcased his ultra stripped down folk ditties’ by the organisers of 2000 Trees Festival. In 2011 B-SYDES followed his previous effort with his 2nd EP ‘Wrecked Vessels’. A release that showed all the progression you would expect from an artist growing both in confidence and stature. ‘Punktastic’ said “Nobody can deny the passion that Benjamin has thrown into these songs”. ‘Big Cheese Magazine’ said “Sydes folk-rooted songs deliver raw emotions with passion and conviction”.
B-SYDES has so far shared the stage with the likes of Frank Turner, Sam Duckworth, Chris TT, Dave McPherson, Walter Schreifels, Ben Marwood, Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun, Oxygen Thief, Rob Lynch, Gaz Brookfield and The Retrospective Soundtrack Players.
After spending the last 18 months recordings his debut album in between stints on the road can only mean that 2015 has big things in store...
