Cold Summer Bio:
Cold Summer are a band dynamically developing their own post hardcore sound, mixing influences from both the mainstream and underground, past and present. After an introspective end to 2011 now behind them, the band are looking forward to having themselves seen and heard all over the UK and beyond with the release of their debut EP 'Transitions' on January 16th 2012.
Hailing from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, The band was formed in late 2010 and quickly released a solid 3 track demo titled ‘Committed To Tape’ and embarked on a few local support slot shows to get on the road and refine their live show after the hours spent in the rehearsal room. This lead to release of a live recording of their and sparked the bands fascination and future intention to put out more live recordings. With a sudden line up change half way through the year, putting a hold on the bands live activity, the band without a vocalist found themselves as keen to write more music rather than putting a quick fix solution to their new dilemma.
The remaining 3 members of the band used this time creatively with an outlook to challenge and rejuvenate peoples perceptions of what a band influenced by a wide palette of heavy yet melodic, passionate but not pretentious punk/hardcore bands, should sound like. By recruiting vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Dan Feast, the band found themselves able to build upon the new music they’d begun to write and spent the latter stages of 2011 arranging 5 tracks and also in this time recorded two demos of new songs, ‘Waiting’ and ‘Mistakes’.As we enter 2012 the band are set to release on these two new songs as part of a five track EP, ‘Transitions’ which is backed by acoustic interpretations of the two tracks by Dan Feast and an instrumental outro, entitled ‘Wake’.
Champing at the bit, the band pre-released the opening track ‘Waiting’ as a free download back in early December 2011 to very encouraging and positive reviews, highlighting the bands well defined contrast of loud/quiet dynamics. The band has had a brush with mainstream exposure, featured on absolutepunk.net’s main page as part of their successful ‘free music friday’ campaign and are now back on the road, their first show of the year, January 15th supporting well respected punk rock bands End Of A Year (Deathwish records) and AFICIONADO (No Sleep records).
