When New Mexican Disaster Squad decided to take their touring schedule down a couple of notches Alex and Richard (aka Horsebites) wanted to do something new. That something became GATORFACE. They decided to simplify the music they had written in the past and create music that was catchy yet still unpredictable. With their feet still planted in the world of early 80's punk they decided it was time to write some new songs, and for Alex to begrudgingly assume the role of vocalist for the first time. With their influences ranging from the simplicity of the Ramones, the darkness of Adolescents and the quirky hooks of the Descendents they started writing in February of 2008. They enlisted the help of Nick from Polluted Youth and Quilty to begin learning what was to become the "Sick and Stupid" EP. The EP, recorded at Crescendo Sound Studios in Gainesville, Florida with Derron Nuhfer (Less Than Jake, Against Me!, Hot Water Music, Fifth Hour Hero), is due to hit the shelves of record stores and the ethereal body that is the Internet in October 2008 via Paper and Plastick. They are currently working on their debut full length and will be recording again towards the middle of 2009. GATORFACE is exactly what happens when a couple of guys that play early 80's style hardcore decide to try to play pop punk.
