One 80 Down Bio:
In late 2007, Paul Major and Leigh Barber (both ex FETISH) placed an add in RAVE magazines "Musicians Wanted" section, looking for a guitarist and vocalist with influences such as the Bouncing Souls, Bad Religion, The Vandals, Dropkick Murphys and other melodic punk rock bands. Simon Wilson, who had just moved to the Gold Coast from Newcastle via Lismore answered the call and immediately started writing and recording with the two. Unfortunately, Leigh had to move south, waaaaay south, to Tasmania and so again, an add was placed, looking for a drummer. Mike Harris, who had just moved to Brisbane from Auckland, replied to the boys and straight away slotted in with his brilliant skills behind the kit, his wealth of knowledge behind the sound desk and his dry Kiwi humour. The three members instantly started writing more and more catchy, hook-laden âsocial conscious rockâ tunes and struck out onto the live circuit with shows around the Gold Coast before branching out to Brisbane. In January 2010, the band entered Loose Stones studios in Burleigh with producer Tyse Lee to work on their upcoming EP. Three songs, (Something, Don't Worry and Lifer) were laid down and have just returned from mastering at Sterling Sound. Adding to this, the band have been working on some older material at Angry Neighbours studios in Mermaid Waters to throw in a few "fan favourites" for the release along with two videos by Anthony Plant of White Knuckle productions. It's been a long time coming, but the band believe that only their best efforts will do and those who have blessed them with their attention deserve nothing less.
