Apparently Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley has a side-project called ‘Deryck Whibley and The Happiness Machines’ now, and they are going to be playing a short run of club shows in California early next month. All the promotional materials say the band will be “playing Sum 41 songs,” but based on the fact that this isn’t being branded as a Sum 41 tour, I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess Jason McCaslin and Tom Thacker aren’t in the mix.
Either way, these will be Deryck Whibley’s first on-stage appearances since his recovery from alcoholism, so if you’re interested in seeing him and a couple random dudes playing Sum 41 songs, you can find more info on when and where that will be happening below.
Sum 41 released their last album Screaming Bloody Murder in 2011 through Island Records. They have been working on a new record as of late, in addition to searching for someone to take the place of drummer Steve Jocz, who parted ways with the band two years ago.
